FRNSW meeting

An applicant may request a meeting with FRNSW on any fire safety matter outside of any formal assessment or consultation, subject to the discretion and availability of the unit.

Overview of service

A meeting does not substitute any formal assessment or consultancy service on statutory fire safety. Verbal advice will only be provided during the meeting, and no formal (i.e. written) assessment will be provided.

Any advice provided may be subject to change following formal assessment or determination by the relevant authority, including by FRNSW.

Charges for service

The following charges apply to the provision of this service:

  • Assessment of request to attend meeting — $373
  • Attendance at fire safety meeting, including 2 hours of travel time — $1,990

Application process

To request FRNSW attendance at a meeting, the following must be completed and submitted to firesafety@fire.nsw.gov.au:

  1. Pay the upfront assessment fee on the Payment Portal
  2. FRNSW meeting application form, noting that the applicant can nominate a preferred date between two (2) working days and three (3) weeks from the date of submitting the form.
  3. Any other supporting documentation relevant to assessment and proposed content of the meeting (e.g. plans and specifications, hydrant/’sprinkler system schematics, statement of available pressure and flow (or equivalent) from the water supply authority, fire safety schedule and fire safety certificate (interim or final), any conditions of consent or BDC conditions, fire safety study and/or preliminary or final hazard analysis, environmental impact statement and/or statement of environmental effects, or fire safety order).

Note: The application must include all relevant information. If any attachment exceeds 35 MB, please request a FRNSW SharePoint folder for uploading any large files.

FRNSW will advise the applicant by email if the meeting application has been accepted or declined. Where accepted, meeting details will also be confirmed.
