Fire Safety Liaison Unit
The Fire Safety Liaison Unit engages with Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, Local Government, SafeWork NSW and the NSW Environment Protection Authority on facilities and developments that pose potentially significant risk to human health, property or the environment. This includes hazardous or offensive developments, major hazard facilities (MHF), manifest quantity workplaces (MQW), explosives and mining sites as well as other sites subject to a condition of consent.
The Fire Safety Liaison Unit is responsible for:
- Providing FRNSW advice on State significant developments (SSD)
- Review and assessment of fire safety studies (FSS)
- Providing recommendations on the content and effectiveness of emergency plans (EP)
- Performance-based design briefs (PBDB) and initial fire safety report (IFSR) for developments that pose potentially significant risk.
