Fire Safety Advisory Unit
The Fire Safety Advisory Unit provides consultation services to industry on the performance-based design brief (PBDB) in the performance solution process. A PBDB is prepared during the design phase by a designer or engineer seeking preliminary input into fire engineering concepts for proposed development having a performance solution.
The unit also assesses performance solution reports for proposed development for the purpose of furnishing an initial fire safety report (IFSR) under section 27 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment (Development Certification and Fire Safety) Regulation 2021.
The Fire Safety Advisory Unit will:
- Review PBDB consultation and provide recommendations on performance solutions presented
- Liaise with stakeholders and negotiate on proposed performance solutions for a project
- Assess a performance solution report for the purpose of furnishing an IFSR
- Attend consultation meetings with industry representatives when considered necessary by FRNSW.
