New million-dollar fire truck to protect Bathurst
Published: 09 Oct 2025
Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) has bolstered fire protection in the state's central west with the arrival of a state-of-the-art fire truck for the Bathurst Fire Station.
The Scania P320 Class 3, valued at $950,000, features a Compressed Air Foam System (CAFS) which allows the truck to significantly reduce water usage, allowing a more efficient dispersal of foam and water to reduce run-off when extinguishing fires.
The engine’s cabin can seat up to five firefighters and allows them to exit the appliance already wearing their breathing apparatus, saving valuable seconds during a response.
As part of the Minns Labor Government commitment in June of an additional $17 million over two years to renew FRNSW’s fire-fighting fleet, this new truck joins the list of recently unveiled firefighting vehicles in Gosford, Blacktown, Newtown and Goonellabah.
Quotes attributable to Acting Emergency Services Minister, Anoulack Chanthivong:
“This truck is among the first new advanced firefighting trucks to roll off the production line this financial year, and we are delivering dozens more across the state to enhance firefighting efforts and response.
“As existing fire trucks reach the end of their service life, we’re replacing them with the latest, high-tech models to protect the communities of NSW. This is the latest investment in emergency protection for the people of Bathurst.
Quotes attributable to FRNSW Zone Commander, Superintendent Brett Jackson:
“Fire and Rescue NSW’s fleet develops and expands to suit the needs of the community it serves.
“Our Fleet Replacement Program doesn’t replace ‘like for like,’ it introduces better, modern and purpose-built fire engines that will be ‘Prepared for Anything’ well into the future.”
