$800,000 Morisset Fire Station upgrade complete as community marks 40 years

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) Commissioner, Jeremy Fewtrell, today unveiled the upgraded Morisset Fire Station, as it celebrates 40 years of service to the community.
The Lake Macquarie project has been completed as part of FRNSW’s ‘Privacy Upgrade Program’, which is improving fire station amenities across the state and embedding clean area principles to enhance firefighter health, safety and operational efficiency.
The NSW Government is investing $50 million over 10 years in these fire station upgrades to ensure they meet the needs of FRNSW’s firefighters. At Morisset, the works delivered include: · new male and female locker rooms · separate toilet and shower facilities · a new Personal Protective Clothing (PPC) room to limit the spread of hazardous particulate matter from firegrounds · full internal and external repainting, new floor coverings, and upgrades to electrical and mechanical services.
Built in 1985, Morisset Fire Station has been home to generations of on-call firefighters who have responded to thousands of emergencies in the Lake Macquarie region and further afield. The upgrades to the facility commenced in May this year, with works completed in September.
Minister for Emergency Services, Jihad Dib said: “It’s great to see the Minns Labor Government’s investment in upgrades at the Morisset Fire and Rescue station delivering safer, more modern workplaces to make sure our on-call firefighters can continue keeping people safe.
“Four decades of service is a huge milestone, and with this upgraded facility I am confident the station will serve the Central Coast community for years to come.”
FRNSW Commissioner Jeremy Fewtrell said: “We’re proud to deliver this modern, fit-for-purpose upgrade for our on-call firefighters in Morisset.”
“It will support firefighters to protect communities across the Lake Macquarie and wider Hunter region well into the future.”
